Terms of sale and personal-use license

Sales haven't opened yet. These terms take effect when checkout opens.

1. Seller and checkout. These terms cover purchases of The Name Path digital products from The Name Path ("we"; mailing address will be posted here before sales open). Checkout will be handled by Lemon Squeezy (checkout isn't open yet), which acts as the merchant of record: it sells the product to you, takes payment, collects any sales tax and sends your receipt. Its own buyer terms also apply to the payment. Prices are one-time payments in U.S. dollars. There's no subscription and nothing renews.

2. What's sold (digital only). We sell informational, do-it-yourself digital products, and nothing ships. The Arizona Edition ($27) includes:

  • The guide (PDF): a general guide to changing your name after marriage in Arizona, as a screen PDF and a print-friendly PDF.
  • The plan and tracker app: a questionnaire that shows the general steps from the guide that match the answers you choose, in order, with links to the official blank forms and pages, plus check-offs, reminders, logs and notes. It runs in your browser and saves everything only on your device.

We don't fill out, complete, review, or file any government form for you, and we don't give legal advice. The guide and app give general information about how the official process works and aren't a substitute for the advice of an attorney. The plan is built automatically from the answers you select; it isn't a review of your documents or a judgment about your legal situation. We aren't a law firm, a certified legal document preparer, or a government agency, and we aren't affiliated with or endorsed by the Social Security Administration, ADOT/MVD, the U.S. Department of State, or any other government agency. Every government step can be done directly with the agency without buying anything from us. Changing your name with Social Security is free from the Social Security Administration. Agencies' own fees (for example, for a certified copy, a license or a passport) are paid to the agency.

3. Delivery and access. After payment you'll get a download link for your PDFs and a link to the plan and tracker app. Your PDF may be marked with your name, email and order number. Download links may expire after a short time or allow a limited number of downloads. You can ask us to reissue your download for your order at no charge during 12 months after purchase. The app saves your information only on your device, so we can't restore it if your browser data is cleared; use the app's backup feature.

4. License. Your use is governed by The Name Path Personal-Use License, which is part of these terms. In short: personal and household use only, with no sharing or resale.

5. Accuracy and updates. We check facts against official sources and print the date checked. Rules, fees, and procedures can change at any time, and agencies can apply them differently in individual cases. The app may update when we update our website; downloaded PDFs are a snapshot as of the date printed on them. If an agency's own page disagrees with the guide, follow the agency. We don't guarantee that any agency will accept a document or approve an application, or how long any agency will take.

6. Refunds. 14 days, no questions asked: email hello@thenamepath.com within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. We issue it ourselves through the merchant of record. When a refund is issued, your license ends and download links are turned off. See the Refund Policy (/refunds/) for details.

7. Disclaimer. THE MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" FOR GENERAL INFORMATION. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

8. Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim relating to a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it. We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as missed travel, agency fees, or time spent.

9. Privacy. We use your name, email and order details to deliver the product, mark your copy, and support you. Your plan answers, check-offs, logs and notes stay on your device and are never sent to us. See the Privacy Policy (/privacy/).

10. Governing law. Arizona, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.

11. Changes. We may update these terms for future purchases. The version in effect when you bought applies to that purchase.

Personal-Use License

1. What you're buying. When you buy a kit from The Name Path (a state guide and the plan and tracker app included with it, the "Materials"), The Name Path ("we") gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Materials as described here. You're buying a license, not ownership of the copyright. We keep all rights we don't expressly grant.

2. Who can use it. One purchase covers you and the members of your household working on your own name change and your spouse's. The plan and tracker app can be used on your own devices for your household.

3. What you may do.

  • Download, view, and print the Materials for your own name change.
  • Keep copies on your own devices and print as many copies as you need for your own use.
  • Share a printed or on-screen page with an agency, employer, or professional (for example, an attorney) who is helping with your own name change.

4. What you may not do.

  • Share, forward, upload, post, or otherwise distribute the Materials or your download link (including in groups, forums, file-sharing sites, or shared drives).
  • Resell, sublicense, rent, or give away the Materials, in whole or in part, including as part of a wedding gift bundle, welcome box, or planning service, unless you have our written permission.
  • Remove or obscure the copyright notice or the buyer watermark (name, email, order number).
  • Use the Materials, or any substantial part of them, to create a competing product, course, or template, or to train or prompt an AI model to reproduce them.
  • Use the Materials for clients or customers, for example as a wedding planner, officiant, or venue, without a business license from us. Business and planner licenses are available on request.

5. Watermarks and download links. Your PDF may be marked with your name, email, and order number, and download links may expire or be limited in number. These measures protect the product. They aren't meant to limit your normal personal use. If a link expires, contact us and we'll reissue it for your order.

6. Updates. The plan and tracker app may update when we update our website. Downloaded PDFs are a snapshot as of the date printed on them.

7. Informational only. The Materials are general information, not legal advice. We don't fill out, review, or file government forms for you, and the plan the app builds from your answers isn't a judgment about your legal situation. We aren't affiliated with any government agency. Agencies change rules and fees. Always confirm with the agency. See the Terms of Sale for the full disclaimer.

8. Ending the license. This license ends automatically if you break Section 4. You'll then need to stop using and delete the Materials. If you get a refund, the license ends, your download links are turned off, and you should delete your copies.

9. Enforcement. We may remove unauthorized copies, including by sending takedown notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512), and we may turn off download links tied to an order that's being shared.
